Our Team
Shawn has lived in Bedford, Nova Scotia for over two decades with his wife, Greta who immigrated to Canada in the 1960s from England. In his spare time, Shawn plays guitar and banjo in the country and western fiddle band, The Wheelers. The Wheelers band members are a collection of lawyers from Brookshire Law Office, Teryl Scott Lawyers Inc, and Richardson’s Law Office – Shawn’s mother also joined the band and plays the piano. They began volunteering to perform in local nursing homes when Shawn’s father was admitted to White Hills Nursing Home. Shawn is also a history buff and is working on a book about Nova Scotia history in the 1700s.
Kathleen is a native Haligonian. Inspired by the beauty of our coastline, she is a true nature lover and outdoor enthusiast. She decided to migrate to the west coast, where she lived and worked in Vancouver for 7 years. During her time there she enjoyed many adventures including ski trips to Whistler, hikes in the mountains and white-water rafting. She also had the opportunity to indulge her love of travel, venturing abroad to the UK, New Zealand and Greece. She eventually returned home to Halifax to be with family, where she now resides.
Upon her return, Kathleen worked in the government sector where she was honored to receive a Minister’s Award of Excellence for Outstanding Achievement. She also became a member of Dalhousie University Toastmasters, where she won a trophy for the club in the humorous speech category and received a Triple Crown Award from Toastmasters International.
In her spare time, Kathleen enjoys immersing herself in a variety of interests including: creative writing, sketching, dance, and studying art history and philosophy. She is also an avid reader and fitness enthusiast and treasures spending quality time with her precious Siberian tabby, Skye.
Kathleen is passionate about her role and has been recognized for her excellent customer service skills and warm, welcoming personality.
Kaylah has recently joined the Brookshire team, though she has been working with our sister firm Teryl Scott Lawyers Inc., for a while now. She has an extensive administrative background from her previous job history, and is happy to assist with any administrative matter.
Kaylah grew up in Hants County, but moved to Alberta for 14 years before she decided to come back to the Maritimes to raise her son, and be closer to family. While the mountains were nice, she missed the ocean and her family. In her spare time, Kaylah enjoys many firsts with her young son and loves to sing, play piano, and dabble in macrame!
Elizabeth joined the Brookshire team to help manage the website, SEO and marketing. She comes with a background in design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a major in photography, from NSCAD University.
Elizabeth grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and moved to Nova Scotia after high school to partake in a youth outreach program. Nova Scotia felt like home so she chose to set down roots here. In her free time she is often kayaking, hiking and camping with her husband and two daughters. In the off season you’ll find her at the rink supporting her daughter in goal or at the gym while her daughter practices her gymnastics.
