Shawn has lived in Bedford, Nova Scotia for over two decades with his wife, Greta who immigrated to Canada in the 1960s from England. In his spare time, Shawn plays guitar and banjo in the country and western fiddle band, The Wheelers. The Wheelers band members are a collection of lawyers from Brookshire Law Office, Teryl Scott Lawyers Inc, and Richardson’s Law Office – Shawn’s mother also joined the band and plays the piano. They began volunteering to perform in local nursing homes when Shawn’s father was admitted to White Hills Nursing Home. Shawn is also a history buff and is working on a book about Nova Scotia history in the 1700s.
Alan is widely published in the area of immigration law. He currently has published 17 scholarly articles on this topic and has written a textbook on Australian immigration law. He is licensed in Nova Scotia and has practiced immigration law in British Columbia, New York and his native home of Australia.
Daniel Wilband works for Teryl Scott Lawyers Inc. which is associated with Brookshire Law Office. Daniel’s main focus is employment and human rights law. He has extensive experience with both non-unionized and unionized/collective agreement matters, constitutional law and complex human rights issues.
Daniel hails from the outskirts of Saint John, New Brunswick. He is fluently bilingual and his wife Michelle is Acadian from the same area. Daniel attended McGill University’s Faculty of Law, arguably Canada’s finest law school, graduating on the Dean’s Honour List in 2015. He completed his articles at a well-known law firm in Toronto that specializes in labour/employment, constitutional and human rights law, after which he served as a clerk to the judiciary at the prestigious Court of Appeal for Ontario. Prior to law school, Daniel obtained a master’s degree in philosophy and classics from Dalhousie, and taught in an interdisciplinary humanities program at the University of King’s College. He has taught labour law at Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law.
Daniel enjoys cooking, music, reading, and spending time outdoors with his two young children. Kate is originally from Toronto, Ontario. She pursued her undergraduate education at the University of Guelph, where she completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) in Marketing Management. Afterward, she took a few years off school to explore business development and management roles before attending law school. She received her law degree (Juris Doctor) from Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law in 2023 and is excited to be setting down roots in Nova Scotia.
In her spare time, Kate enjoys horseback riding and spent 20 years competing in the Hunter/Jumper and Dressage rings in Ontario. Her horse is now enjoying his retirement in Porters Lake, Nova Scotia. If Kate is not at the barn she can be found hiking with her partner on one of Nova Scotia’s many beautiful seaside trails.
Maegan was born in Newfoundland and married a Newfoundlander. While building her career, she has had the opportunity to work in various locations across the country because her husband works for the Department of National Defence.
